Bodies line the streets of Seoul after Halloween crush
A massive stampede has left at least 120 people dead and hundreds more injured after a fatal crush amongst a 100,000-strong crowd on a narrow street during Halloween festivities in the South Korean capital Seoul.

An official from the National Fire Agency initially said around 100 people were injured during the deadly crowd surge on Saturday night in the Itaewon leisure district of Seoul.

It is believed that hundreds of thousands had gathered in Itaewon, Seoul to attend the city's 2022 Halloween Festival, but a crush occurred shortly after 10pm local time.

These crushes can be pretty scary, I remember the last game at Upton Park trying to get in the West Stand everyone was getting squashed,my mate couldn’t breathe and Russel Brand was beside me looking very scared. Ok not on the same scale as Seoul - RIP to those who died

When you compare a tragedy at a Halloween event with what Putin is doing, it’s time to log off and take a break.

I think the bottom line is:

"Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to commercialise a western/pagan event in what is basically a Buddhist nation"?

I've been to Christmas celebrations in Muslim countries, but there was nothing on this scale (apart, once, from my mate wanting to fuck the project director's wife into the middle of next week. He got put in his place).

One of the first large scale events that didn't require masks. Attracted much larger numbers than anticipated and this is the result. Sad. RIP

I don't thnk there's much of a religious element to Hallowe'en any more.

What this does have in common with stuff like the Hajj stampedes is that bastards try and rip off the ordinary punter without considering their safety.

The Saudi Royal family might be a shade worse because they use religion as a cover, but only a shade.

Rumour the crush was caused by the spotting of a celebrity so the crowd surged to get a look, such is this obsession with such people in modern life especially in places like Korea were pop stars are treated like Gods.

RIP to all who died, truly a tragic event.

There's a video on that link and you can see the shock waves travelling through the crowds - once fluid dynamics start to kick in it gets scary

Whether or not this is true, I so much want to get angry over this.

Not because of the deaths - well, OK, and because of the deaths, but because of the commercialisation of this pagan/religious shit that encourages such thing to happen.

Rant over - RIP to those...

The first BBC report (disappeared now) said over 50 people had suffered cardiac arrests in Seoul and were being treated with CPR at the scene.

Bizarre story, obviously very sad for these young partygoers.
